Pomegranate Cooler
We had received our Pack of POM (100% Pomegranate Juice), in little snowmen like bottles about two months back. Most of them were gone in a couple of days, straight from the bottle chilled. I did manage to save one to make this drink. This antioxidants packed juice rocks! I did not even contemplate cooking with it, but the possibilities of making coolers/cocktails & mocktails are endless, & our heads are have been busy buzzing with ideas.
The temperature here is climbing till the 90s during the day time…Summer has definitely arrived in Texas. However it is still pretty & comfortable during the evenings & the morning hours.. the heat is yet to come. This happens to be THE DRINK for one of those hot summer afternoons, esp. if you happened to have been outside & desperately want a cooler when you walk inside the house. I have some fresh mint growing inside & outside. The rest of the ingredients are of everyday use.. except for the lovely things in the alcoholic version:-D
Thanks! POM!
Ingredients: (makes 2 servings)
- 1.5 Cup Pomegranate Juice chilled (Or 1/2 Cup Cranberry Juice chilled + 1 Cup Pom Juice Chilled)
- A Fistful of Mint Leaves
- 1/2 Teaspoon Fresh Ginger Juice
- Sprite or any Lime Soda chilled
- Ice
- Sugar or Honey to Taste
- 1/2 Teaspoon of Orange Blossom Water (Optional)
Alcoholic Version:
Add:
1 ounce of Vodka + 1/2 Ounce of Orange Liqueur
Preparation:Muddle the mint leaves (with sugar or honey if you are using it).
Combine the pomegranate, cranberry juice, orange blossom water (if you are using it) & ginger juice with the mint leaves. Add Ice & Give it a good shake shake shake.
(for the alcoholic version, add the vodka & the liqueur along with the juice & other things)Pour it in to individual glasses, half glass each. Fill it up with Sprite or any Lime Soda. Garnish with mint leaves.
This is a fantastic drink for outdoor/indoor parties. Prepare the drink & keep it ready chilled. Add the soda just before serving. Garnish with mint.

Beautiful picture. Looks just fabulous, perfect for the hot weather we have out here.
We used to be such great fans of POM, but then the craze died down. More so because we were not able to find the original POM, all we got was POM juice blended with other fruits.
Yeah beautiful piciture as always.
The drink looks so refreshing. Love the addition of ginger in them.
It is a real pity that we don’t get pom here, i have searched the for in all the shops here.

Lovely photo. I can “hear” the fizzy bubbles through the picture 😉 I loove POM even though I find it quite pricey. I usually make my own using a juicer.
That sounds like a great combination of flavors, will definitely be trying it once I get some fresh pomegranates.

Ginger and mint are lovely complements to pomegranate’s naturally tart snap. Especially love that first pic.

nice one. mouth-watering pictures.
How many servings does this recipe make? I can’t find it anywhere here but I’m sure if missed it somewhere.. Please let me know if you can as I was hoping to multiply it to make a batch for a holiday party. Thank you!
It makes about 2 servings (2 glasses). The cup size is 8 oz and then as much soda you use to top them off….I have updated the post.
where do you get orange blossom water? Looks very refreshing.
I had found this bottle at our local grocery store (Kroger) at the Mediterranean Isle. But they do not keep them anymore. I am sure any Mediterranean store will keep them. (Greek, Turkish etc). Or maybe some online store.
I love the sound of this cooler, and I will definitely make it, but be sure not to use POM. POM is not so wonderful, they use the draize test to test POM. this is a test where a live rabbit is scratched in the eyes with the product to see if there is a reaction.
I think if any creature is scratched in the eye there would be a reaction. Inhumane and unacceptable.
Please do not promote POM.
Thanks Anjana for the information. This was quite a long time back when POM was introduced and was sent to me. Dont think we have never bought one since then. You may use freshly made pomegranate juice for this. Nothing meets the fresh and homemade.*

Passo 2: Faça a medida de um pedaço de EVA preto gliter um pouco menor que a caixa (apenas na parte de cima) e cole com cola quente ou silicone liquido.
