Street Vendors – for Black and White Wednesday
Selling warm Roasted Brown Chickpeas in newspaper cones (in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan India): a rural woman with traditional dress and silver jewelry I LOVE!
Locally Grown Fresh Vegetables and Fruits: a father son team?
Roasting corn on the traditional portable clay oven – I was delighted to see this after so many years in India
Green Coconut: the seller slices off the top with that scary looking weapon, pierces a hole in the flesh and sticks a straw inside it to sip in the fresh sweet natural thirst quencher.
All the above photographs are for Susan’s Black and White Wednesday.
Gorgeous shots!
Wow, the lady in the first photograph has such beautiful jewelery on her. Love it.
The shots are superb as usual. Just loved the photograph of the corn on cobs!! 🙂
I love those shots! So interesting. I particularly like the first one.
Cheers,
Rosa
Beautiful shots Soma. Brings me back to my last trip to India! And it makes me realize I really need to go again soon.
Beautiful pictures from India specially that woman selling chana in her pristine Rajasthani dressing with jewellery. Does she know she is on web seen by hundreds and admired? Do you tell them when you take their pictures? Do you compensate them when you take pictures? just wondering.
Thanks! and yes she knows I took her photograph. I never take anyone’s photograph without asking. All she and most of them wanted was for us to buy something from them/the products they were selling. They never ask for any other kind of compensation. Some are very excited that their photographs are going “abroad”. There are some who refused being photographed, but agreed to photograph their product.
Fresh Nariyal Pani SIGH !!! Miss that so much. I am not much of a jewelry person but that lady’s bangles are so beautiful!
Soma,
All the pictures are full of life and beautiful …hugs and smiles
Like everyone said, I too was admiring the beautiful jewellery on that dignified old woman. Awesome photos Soma.
Are green coconuts and water coconuts the same thing? Do they all taste like the regular coconuts we’re used to here?
You really made some worderful shots there.
I love all of these. I’m so pleased you included the colour shot of the woman. I was wondering what colours she was wearing. It is almost as if she chose the colours of her clothes to suit the scene.
love the shot!
I absolutely love these photos – can’t decide if I like the color or b+w of the woman. Both are so emotive in different ways. Beautiful!
She’s lovely in color, too, but the great shades of black and white really make the photo pop!
Love these all, Soma, but the chana seller strikes a special place for me. Thank you always for your fine BWW photos!
Wow this is a real culture of India , nice pics of street vendors specially the green coconut and roasted corn. I am loving it. Silver Jewellery of lady in first pic is awesome.
