A tiny Tea Party – Black and White Wednesday

“There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again.” ~ Elizabeth Lawrence

A couple of weekends back we were in Houston, to meet my old college friend. My girls and my friend’s girl teamed up with another friend to have a “Tea Party”.

Here are some photographs among the whole lot I took while I stood there; amusing myself with the frequent spills of water (their tea) and crushed ice (their sugar cubes). I had the opportunity to stand by and soak in every moment of it and to take photographs, while my friend  prepped for lunch and also attended to the kids. This is probably the first time ever, that I stood there as an “observer” and not as a mom, running to the needs, and call of chores; the time I totally relished,  that I could be free of all thoughts and just enjoy the little play. Thanks to my friend, she took care of all, and gave me this gift of time…

The simple things that the children find joy is a source of inspiration for me; a lesson to live life without complications and to live at the present as if the next moment does not exist. The spontaneity of their actions, the passion in all that they do, their ability to make friends without too many questions asked and the ring of the laughter from deep within their hearts so beautifully defines how we should walk through this journey called Life.

Each one takes turn pouring out the “tea” very very carefully…

and finally when it gets to her, while she patiently waited, the “tea” in the tiny pot  was all gone.

A look of disappointment…

Can I have some more, please??

and they were edible and real.

The “Cheers” were not forgotten, even though it was at the tail end of the party and with empty cups too.

The last drop…

and the last sip.

The laughter and the giggles are precious and infectious with a chime and emotion which only the children are capable to arouse.

They are the ones that makes life worth living.

Some of the photographs are being sent to Susan’s Black and White Wednesday
